Search and Rescue responded to two groups of lost skiers yesterday at around 4pm MSNBC Story. I saw the helicopter hovering for about 2 hours above Firebreak and the Palisades areas of Heavenly Mountain Resort. Firebreak and Palisades are out of bounds runs located on North side of Heavenly in Nevada. You should not be in these areas unless you really know what you are doing. We had 5-7 feet of fresh snow fall over the last few days. Fresh, unpacked powder makes it very, very difficult to get out of low or flat spots. These skiers were clearly out of bounds and had to duck a rope or enter these areas through a gate.

I skied Mott Canyon today and I have been all over the mountain the last few days. Heavenly and the Ski Patrol have done a great job making the mountain safe. There is plenty of fresh powder within the boundaries at Heavenly.

A new sign at Heavenly sums up everything, "Experts Only--- If you dont know dont go"
