Wind Hold

WIND HOLD
Always check the Heavenly Mountain Resort website to make sure all lifts are running because sometimes high winds will force lifts to close down for a period of time or the entire day. Often, the first to close down are the Gondola and Sky Express and soon after the Comet Lift and Dipper Lift.

If/when the Gondola closes those wishing to access the mountain will now take a bus to the California Base Lodge, the Boulder Lift or the Stagecoach Lift. If Sky Express is closed you will not be able to go from the California side to the Nevada side of Heavenly.

When the Comet Lift or Dipper Lift go on wind hold your best bet is to head to the Stagecoach Lift, Boulder Lift or Olympic Lift. These lifts are in the Heavenly North area and are often protected from wind and will remain open longer than the other lifts in windy conditions. Vacation Rentals in the Heavenly North area are very popular because the lifts in this area always seem to be running.

You can always jump on a Heavenly bus to get back to the Gondola or California Base Lodge if you spend the day in the Heavenly North area.
