Lake Tahoe Flying Pictures

Lake Tahoe is a great spot for general aviation.  One of the most beautiful approaches you will find is into the South Lake Tahoe Airport (KTVL).  The Truckee Airport (KTRK) is another great airport for a fly in.  The Lake Tahoe area has great weather throughout the year, but all pilots needs to understand mountain flying and density altitude before flying in this area.  Winds and turbulence increase in the afternoon along with potential thunder/lightening clouds during the summer months.  In the winter you need to be careful of clouds and icing conditions.

For those looking to move to Lake Tahoe, Nevada and fly (general aviation, gliding or business aircraft) check out the Minden-Tahoe Airport (KMEV).  This airport has great weather and is 25 minutes away from the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.

I provided some pictures taken from a Cessna 172 of the Lake Tahoe Area from the air.  If you have any questions about flying in this area please contact us.
